Dr. Raul Cuero is a very accomplished man with an unusual background. Growing up he faced a lot of adversity and low expectations from others. He was able to overcome this and he exceeded others expectations through creativity. I think that it is so important to show people your full potential if they say that they don't expect anything of you. To be able to express yourself through creativity and belief in yourself is a valuable life skill and it will get you far in life.
Cuero goes on to say that creativity is innovation and venturing into the unknown. If you are able to achieve this then you will surprise the people who don't think that you can succeed, so much so that it catches them off guard.
Creativity can be generated through nature and the observation of it. He talks about how he grew up in poverty basically and that he had to create things in order to train his mind. He says that children and adults today are at a disadvantage because they are born and live in relative luxury. They get so fixated on technology that they limit themselves. All of technology and gadgets that we own have come from nature. Therefore, nature should be observed and people should try to learn from it. Cuero also says that children are spending too much time on the internet and not enough time talking and interacting with other people. Ideas are expanded to create inventions when people converse and share their ideas with others.
With creativity, you have to be willing to take a chance. You can't be afraid of failure because that in itself is going to hinder the max amount of creativity or innovation that you're striving to achieve. Commitment and intensity is what is needed for invention. With taking chances, comes being patient and taking your time. It's not going to immediately happen, because it is a process.
With applying what he said in the video, I will definitely think about using a lot of my electronic devices less. I actually love hiking and just looking at nature so increasing that would be great. Not only do you get to enjoy the natural wonders of the world but you also get this sense of peace since it's not busy busy like city life. I think his message about being intense is a great tip! You have to be willing to just throw yourself into it full heartedly because otherwise you're not utilizing your full potential. You're only cheating yourself if you don't one hundred percent believe that you can do something.
